A Few Of Baltimore's Best Get History Honors
BCHS Mayor's Reception/History Honors event today
150 people turned out in rain, sleet, hail and snow to lunch with the Mayor and honor fellow citizens for their contributions to the city and its history today.
A boater, a teacher, a nun, a boxer, a business women, a community volunteer, a civil rights activist, a song writer and lyrics writer, a political journalist and an entire city agency were among those recognized by Baltimore City Historical Society and Baltimore National Historic Area.
Everyone joined in to sing new lyrics and new words to the state's old anthem which most would agree presents an unfair, distorted, ahistoric picture of Lincoln, Baltimore, Maryland and the Civil War.

A previous blog described BCHS and those being honored. For much more detail please visit www.historicbaltimore.org where one can also find the lyrics to the two new alternative anthems, which hopefully folks will begin singing all over this land!
