Abell Community Celebrates Centennial with Gala

June 18, 2011 Abell Community Centennial Gala

About 200 people ate a spectacular gourmet meal at a very affordable price in great green open space while musicians played some jazz, children colored painted lady images with crayons and folks table hopped and shared their neighborhood memories of life over the years in diaries on each table.

Bravo Abell Improvement Association (AIA) for having such a grand celebration that took over forty volunteers many hours to plan and execute.

The highlight was the one hour film shown on a screen over the brick wall bordering the 32nd Street space called "The Abell Community Celebrating 100 Colorful Years" which featured many interviews with residents covering most if not all of the five generations of life in one of the city's best communities.
