Charm City Farm and Garden Tour

Baltimore City Bus and Bike tour of City community gardens,

On Saturday afternoon, July 28, 2012, Parks and People, Master Gardeners, City Farms, Baltimore Green Space and others brought folks together at Cylburn Arboretum to pick up their bus or bicycle tour guides and maps.

While it wasn't the Olympics, tour-goers covered alot of ground in a few hours as they worked their way through a hot, humid city, covering many community gardens, urban farms, outdoor classrooms and other spaces made green from abandoned lots.

At each stop proud stewards showed off flowers or vegetables and told tales of tackling dump sites and abandoned lots to reclaim vacant vandalized space and make it beautiful, productive neighborhood open space.

The tours included stops in Mt. Washington, Parks Heights, Greenmount West, Fells Point, Better Waverly. Upon returning to Cylburn, all feasted upon the traditional City Farms supper highlighted by fresh garden crops served in many spendid ways.
