To beat the heat, stay out of the sun and avoid the crowds I visited Artscape this year on Friday. Walking in a cool drizzle with lots of elbow room was a real treat.
My favorite section was the offbeat off-broadway roadside attractions strip along Charles Street below North Avenue where I ran into two artists from the Waverly neighborhood, Ryan and Johnny, setting up stage.
In the more mainstream portion closer to MICA and Mt. Royal, worthy of mention were the panoramas of Christos J. Palios (www.christospalios.com) and block shots of James Singewald (www.jsingewald.com).
