What's WAVEscape

Wavescape is a community-building event to celebrate the artists of Waverly and Better Waverly. With a twist on the traditional National Night Out, the Better Waverly Community Organization is putting together this event on July 26th from 6-10 PM where artists of The Waverlies will perform, sell and display their work, and come together to celebrate community by discussing the issues we face in our community.

I will be setting up a temporary display showing the poetry and prose by Lizette Woodworth Reese who wrote The York Road and A Victorian Village and many books of poetry during her life in and around old historic Waverly village from the Civil War to the Great Depression.

If this sounds somewhat old-fashioned, rest assured that there will be many young hip artists making the evening in the field fun for all. There will be food and beverage vendors, videos, arts and crafts, performing artists and musicians.

The field is the largest green open space in Better Waverly which many people don't even know is there - it's the Montpelier - 30th Streets Park - and it can be easily reached from alleyways along the 800 block of Montpelier.
