Clean Communities Competition Deadline Approaches

Neighborhoods could win $5,000 for improving the cleanliness.

The deadline to apply for the Clean Communities Competition is April 9.

The competition challenges communities in Baltimore to be involved with cleaning their neighborhoods on a daily basis, according to a news release from the Department of Public Works.

The winner of the competition will be judged based on factors such as a neighborhood’s overall increase in recycling tonnage, community wide use of trash cans with lids and decreases in request for alley and street cleaning services.

The start of the competition will coincide with the Mayor’s Spring Cleanup on April 21 and the competition will run through Oct. 19.
