'ABC 2': Nancy Schmidt Murder Still Unsolved

Murderer of 74-year-old woman still at large.

The Baltimore City police are still looking for the killer of 74-year-old Nancy Schmidt nearly three years after she was stabbed to death in her home on W. 31st Street in Remington.

ABC 2 reports that detectives are describing the murder of Schmidt as "overkill."

“For a burglary, that's a lot of overkill. It's a lot of stab wounds,” Lt. Matthew Bauler of the Baltimore City Cold Case Squad said in the story.

In an interview earlier this year with Patch, Joan Floyd, president of the Remington Neighborhood Alliance, said her community is still holding out hope the killer will be brought to justice.

“It’s disturbing,” said Floyd, whose association has raised money for a reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case.

The neighborhood association still has the $1,600 it raised shortly after Schmidt was murdered. Floyd brought a stack of statements to the interview from SunTrust Bank, where the reward money sits in an account.

“We want to give it away,” Floyd said.
