Autopsy Report Reveals McDevitt Was Speeding, Drinking

An article in the Maryland Gazette on Saturday reported that Brian McDevitt, the Pasadena man who died in an accident earlier this year, had alcohol in his system and was excessively speeding.

Brian McDevitt, a Pasadena man whose death earlier this year , had alcohol in his system and was excessively speeding when the car he was driving hit another car on Fort Smallwood Road, according to the Maryland Gazette.

McDevitt was the co-founder of Anne Arundel Breaking News and Events, a popular local Facebook page and web page.

McDevitt, 32, was traveling between 99 and 113 mph at the time of the accident and had a blood-alcohol content of between .05 and .07 percent, according to documents obtained by the Gazette.

The posted speed on the portion of Fort Smallwood Road where McDevitt crashed is 50 mph and Maryland law states that a motorist can be charged with driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood-alcohol content of .08 percent.

On Jan. 28, officers responded to a call at about 12:45 a.m. and said they found McDevitt’s Acura several hundred feet away from the BMW. It was off the road and on its roof.

According to police, when his Acura went out of control and began to rotate counterclockwise crossing the double yellow lane lines into the path of a 1997 BMW 528i.

The right rear of McDevitt’s Acura hit the front of the BMW. The Acura continued for several hundred feet through a mailbox and off the roadway where it overturned, ejecting the driver and coming to rest on its roof, according to the report.

Brandon Patrick O’Malley, 18, of Pasadena was the driver of the BMW and Spencer Anthony Blake, 19, of the 7800 block of Leonardo Court in Pasadena was a passenger in the front seat, according to the report. Both suffered minor injuries.

O’Malley’s father, Tim, told the Gazette that the teens are “lucky to be alive.”

ya....lets try to cover up the facts about an accident that could have killed two innocent kids. Nothing but a bunch of hypocrites running that website.

I was Banned for posting that drinking and driving is wrong. It seems that site is very Pasadena clique-ish. There was a story about kids in Pasadena throwing eggs from a moving car not too long ago and all the comments about the truck that was hit by eggs going 40mph running the kids off the road were calling for the truck drivers arrest. After it was found out that some of the posters kids were in the car driving around throwing eggs the comments quickly changed to calling it a sad sitiation. Cover ups for pasadena peeps seem common on that site.

Having been someone who has made the bad choice to drink and drive, and have a rollover collision (single vehicle thank goodness), I can tell you that emotions of a loved one being beaten by a spouse can cause you to do stupid things. Yes, Law Enforcement had been called but it was in a county where they do not beleive in enforcing DV laws, so I took the chance and lost. It was on the Shore, and I did a week in lockup, so not everyone gets probation. I feel sorry for Brian's family. I lost a 32 year old friend a few weeks ago, and it is very hard to lose a friend who is so young. Its hard to lose someone you care about at any age, but when they are young it is harder.

I am sorry for the loss of Brian and very much appreciate the information shared on the Facebook page he founded to keep us informed of Anne Arundel County news. When I read that a man is going at a speed like that the first thing that I am concerned about is if they were trying to end their life. Don't forget that alcohol itself is a depressant and if the person is already struggling...... I am so thankful that the two teens survived! I pray that they will be able to use this experience to strengthen them in their future. My heart goes out to Brian's family and friends.
