Driver Cited After Crashing into Lutherville Fire Truck, Police Say

Neither vehicle was drivable after the collision, Baltimore County police reported.

The driver of a BMW X5 was taken to the hospital and issued several citations after a run-in with a fire truck on York Road Thursday night, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.

The driver of the BMW tried, unsuccessfully, to pass a Lutherville Volunteer Fire Company truck near Belfast Road in Timonium, police said.

From northbound York Road, the fire truck was turning left into the Smyth Jewelers parking lot when the BMW, in an effort to pass the truck, moved from the center lane to the left lane and hit it, according to the report.

The driver of the BMW was injured and taken to the Greater Baltimore Medical Center, police said. Investigators determined that he was at fault and issued him several citations, according to the report.

Police said the BMW and the fire truck had "disabling damage" as a result of the collision and were towed from the crash site.

Members of the fire company were not injured, police said.
