CRIME: Burglar Just Looking for Rabbit

Bellona-Gittings

East Lake Avenue, 200 block, 11:30 a.m., July 17.  A woman was mowing her lawn when she saw a man enter her unlocked house through the front door, take a yellow leather clutch bag and exit the house. When the woman confronted the man, he told her he was looking for a rabbit and fled.

East 29th Street, 300 block, between 2:45 a.m. and 11 a.m., July 18. A burglar broke a rear door window and entered the house. The burglar stole a white Apple Powerbook, an external hard drive, cameras and an iPhone. The residents were at home at the time but slept through the incident.

Hargrove Alley, 2700 block, 12:55 p.m., July 23. A woman was taking groceries in through her backyard when a robber approached and asked if she needed help. The robber then snatched her purse, shoved her to the ground and fled south on Hargrove Alley.

Oakenshawe

East University Parkway, 200 block, 7 p.m., July 22. A robber approached a woman and tried to snatch her iPod. When she resisted the robber pulled out a knife. The woman began yelling for help and a witness called police. The robber fled the scene but was located and arrested in the 500 block of East 35th Street.
