Guilford Residents Warned of Crimes

A spate of burglaries, larcenies and a flasher have been reported in the neighborhood.

The Guilford Association has sent an “urgent security bulletin” warning residents about a series of crimes in and around the neighborhood recently.

  •  A home on Warrenton Road was burglarized last weekend. The residents were not home and their alarm was not set.  Last Friday, there was an attempted break-in in the 100 block of Wendover Road. But the alarm was triggered notifying the home’s owner and police before the burglar could get into the house.
  •  Also last week, on several days between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m., there were reports of  “youths” taking items from unlocked cars and garages on Suffolk and Wendover roads near Greenmount Avenue. According to the memo, when the people were confronted they ran off down the street or through yards.
  •  There was also a report of a flasher at about 7 a.m. on Wednesday on Underwood Road. A witness described the flasher as a male between the ages of 20 and 40.  The flasher appeared to be jogging and wearing Teva style sport sandals, according to the memo.
