Jury Selection in Pitcairn Murder Case Begins

John Wagner, 38, faces charges of first-degree murder

Jury selection in the trial of a man accused of killing a 23-year-old Johns Hopkins University researcher began Monday.

John Wagner, 38, is accused of stabbing Stephen Pitcairn in the 2600 block of St. Paul St. in a robbery gone wrong in July 2010.  Wagner has been charged with first-degree murder.

Wagner and a woman, identified as his girlfriend Lavela Merrit, were both arrested and charged with robbery and murder. Court records list their last address as 2607 Maryland Ave.
