16-Year-Old Boy Shot in Harwood

Police are investigating a shooting near Whitridge Avenue and Barclay Street.

(UPDATE 10:30 a.m., July 15)—A 16-year-old boy was shot in the back near Whitridge Avenue and Barclay Street in Harwood at about 4 p.m. Thursday, Baltimore City police said.

The boy was walking with a group of friends in the 2700 block of
Barclay when two men ran past shouting “Split! Split!” The boy then felt a burning sensation in his back and stopped in a nearby alley, police spokesman Donnie Moses said.

The boy was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital in serious condition with
a gunshot wound to his lower back. He told police he did not remember hearing any shots fired.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
