North Baltimore Crime: Payless Robbed at Gunpoint

The following information was supplied by the Baltimore City Police Department. In cases where a criminal charge is noted, the information provided does not indicate a conviction.

Armed Robbery Commercial: West 41st Street, 1000 block, 6:20 p.m. on Dec. 16. A man walked into the Payless Shoes, approached the counter and demanded money. The employee complied but robber said, “That’s too slow.” The robber then raised his hand that was inside a black plastic shopping bag the employee believed concealed a handgun. The robber then had the employee take money from the safe before running out of the store.

Burglary Residential: Chestnut Avenue, 3500 block, between 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., on Dec. 12. A burglar entered the home through an unlocked rear door and stole $200 and Xanax.

Burglary Commercial: Hickory Avenue, 3600 block, 9:44 a.m., Dec. 16. A burglar pried open the back door of the American Legion with a crowbar or other tool. The burglar moved a cash register but ran out the back of the building without taking anything.

Burglary Residential: Falls Road, 3400 block, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Dec. 16. A burglar entered the house and stole a Ruger Mark II .22 Caliber handgun, a Smith and Wesson .40 Caliber handgun and an Auto Ordnance Thompson 1911 handgun.

Charles Village

Larceny from Auto: North Charles Street, 3400 block, between 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Dec. 13. Someone broke into a van and stole eight purple moneybags containing $800 and nine yellow moneybags with an unknown amount of money.

Stolen Auto: North Calvert Street, 2900 block, between 6: 40 p.m. Dec. 15 and 8 a.m. Dec. 16. A 2007 Jeep Liberty was stolen.

Medfield

Burglary Residential: Falls Bridge Road, 4400 block, between 9:20 a.m. Dec. 11 and 1:30 p.m. Dec. 13. Burglar entered the home through a bedroom window and stole a Dell laptop.

Oakenshawe

Burglary Residential: Guilford Avenue, 3300 block, 4:55 p.m., on Dec. 13. A burglar broke the door glass and entered the home. A resident then confronted the burglar who said he was there to pick up a box spring and mattress from out back. The burglar then backed out of the house and ran away in an unknown direction.

Abell

Commercial Robbery Unarmed: East 33rd Street, 400 block, 11:01 p.m. Dec. 17. A man entered the 7-Eleven, jumped on the counter and took money from an open register. Employees and customers tired to prevent the man from leaving the store but he was able to break free and run off in an unknown direction.
