Northern District Crime Stats Show Positive Signs

After a tough 2012, crime is off to a slower start in North Baltimore.

Through the start of the year, the Northern District has experienced some sharp drops in crime compared to the same period last year.

There are 42 fewer burglaries and five less shootings through the first 38 days of 2013 than there were in 2012. But the number of commercial robberies is up by 160 percent.  

North Baltimore is coming off a year that saw a crime spike in several categories such as a 60 percent increase in homicides, a 17 percent jump in shootings and an 18 percent rise in robberies.
