Police and Firefighters Celebrate Blue Mass

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, Police Commissioner Frederick H. Bealefeld, III and Fire Chief James Clack attended the service.

Baltimore city firefighters, police officers and elected officials attended the annual Blue Mass celebrated at St. Johns in the Village on Tuesday night.

The mass is held to pray for and bless those that serve Baltimore.

Rev. Jesse Parker spoke about sin and the specific dangers they present to uniformed personnel who protect our city, especially torpidity.

"Nothing will destroy a police department, a fire department or a city government like cynicism," Parker said.

Police Commissioner Frederick H. Bealefeld, III, Fire Chief James Clack, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, Council President Bernard C. "Jack" Young and Councilwoman Mary Pat Clarke all attended the service.
