Police: Hopkins Student Victim of Attempted Rape in Charles Village

City police said there have not been similar incidents in the area.

A Johns Hopkins University Student was the victim of an attempted rape early Saturday morning off-campus in Charles Village, according to Baltimore City police.

According to Johns Hopkins University Security, a man attempted to rape a university student in the 3200 block of Lovegrove Street at about 1:20 a.m.,  Saturday.

The student was assaulted in a parking area near an alley and suffered minor injuries. She was treated and released from Union Memorial Hospital.

Baltimore City police confirmed details of the attack contained in an alert from university security.

Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said there haven’t been any other recent incidents in the area similar to this one.

“We’re trying to find out who did this horrible thing,” Guglielmi said.   

He said the police do not have information regarding whether or not the attack was random.
