Police: Woman Raped Following Home Invasion

Baltimore City police report the woman was attacked as she slept in her home on the 3700 block of Greenmount Ave.

A 29-year-old woman reported being assaulted and raped after someone broke into her North Baltimore home Thursday morning, according to a news release from the Baltimore City Police Department.

The woman told police she was asleep in her home, located on the 3700 block of Greenmount Ave., when she awoke around 4 a.m. to find the male suspect on top of her, according to the release.

The woman told police that the attack occurred as her children were asleep in a nearby room. The children were not harmed during the incident, according to the release.

WJZ reported that the victim's father said that the victim has undergone counseling and that the children are afraid to go home. In addition, the father told WJZ that there was DNA evidence left at the scene.

Baltimore City police are asking anyone with any information is asked to contact Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP. Police added that information can be given anonymously.
