Remington Neighbors Walk Community Following Murder

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake spoke to walkers about her commitment to making Baltimore a safer city.

Despite the damp weather, Remington residents gathered to walk their neighborhood with police a day after Johma Blackwell was found stabbed to death in a home in the 2600 block of Huntingdon Ave.

The community walk had already been scheduled. However, it came a day after the murder and the same day as Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake unveiled a preliminary proposed budget. Rawlings-Blake's budget, despite facing a $65 million deficit, would maintain funding for police.

Rawlings-Blake used the walk as an opportunity to reaffirm her commitment to making Baltimore a safer city.
