Hampden Man Fights Off Pocket Knife-Wielding Robber

A Hampden man fought off a robber, who had a pocket knife, after the victim found two men in his home in the 3800 block of Roland Avenue on March 20.

According to police, William Leyer arrived home to discover two suspects in his home. One suspect saw Leyer and ran out the front door; the other pulled out a pocket knife and began struggling with Leyer.

The robber then dropped the knife and fled with property taken from the home.

A man was shot while playing cards in the 3600 block of Greenmount Avenue on March 21, according to a police report.

The victim was sitting on the front porch when two suspects walked up, fired shots and fled on foot. The victim was shot in the arm.

Tuscany-Canterbury Residents Robbed with Screwdriver

At about 2:45 a.m., two residents of the 4000 block of Linkwood Road were entering their apartment when a robber forced them inside while armed with a screwdriver, according to police.

"Give me money and nobody gets hurt," the suspect told the victims.

The victims complied and handed over $10. The suspect then took a suitcase and fled the scene.
