Speak Out: UMD Student Beating

What do you think?

The officer who was convicted of assault in October for the 2010 beating of a University of Maryland student is currently suspended with pay pending a Prince George's County police investigation.

We want to know if you think what should happen to the officer and whether police should be required to investigate after an officer is convicted.

Let us know in comments below.

I remember seeing this occur on the television. I was so shocked I did not immediately realize what was happening. Via the televised horror I did see the young man, BOTH his hands in his pockets, head lowered, he turned the corner and cops descended upon him like buzzards on dead flesh. I FREAKED my son is a student at UMd College Park, MD. I frantically grabbed the phone and dialed my son's number...no answer, the knot in the pit of my stomach wrenched tighter. I dialed again, leaving a message [I was half crying and half begging] for him to please call me! It seemed forever but minutes later my cell rang.."Honey are you okay?" My son responded, "Yes momma, calm down, I am okay." Me, "Where are you??" He replied, "We're in a restaurant, they have locked the doors and we're all fine. I couldn't answer when you called, I was looking for T. but I found him. He is across the street in a bar with the doors locked." THANK GOD! I saw what the police did...THEY KNOW WHAT THEY DID...PG County police~CORRUPTION AT IT'S FINEST! Oh yes it is me the mother of JUSTIN DeSHA-OVERCASH: MURDERED UMd SCHOLAR~The imbecile who murdered my beautiful and intelligent son HAD ON AN ANKLE MONITOR ON THE DAY HE ENTERED MY SON'S HOME AND MURDERED HIM IN COLD BLOOD! Actually, PG Police do a very good job in my neighborhood... as good as they can with being a contract force. I feel very safe with them protecting and serving our community. The only way I would feel any better is if CP had it's own police force. That being said in response to the question from the article, this is the due process as outlined by our state laws. He is entitled to it and should receive everything the law owes him. I suspect he will be removed after the investigation, If he isn't, then maybe we all have a gripe, but until then we need to just respect the process and let the system work.

Thanks Rick I wish I still had my 'rose colored glasses' but they BROKE the day my son was murdered in PG County and I had to endure lies and cover-up maneuvers by the PROCESS & SYSTEM you wish to respect. I will RESPECT the process and system when the SYSTEM RESPECTS AMERICAN CITIZENS and SLAMS CRIMINALS! Without VICTIMS RIGHTS there is NO JUSTICE! I remain Justin's momma <3 PS When Justin was MURDERED I insisted that CP have their OWN police department; this is the only issue you and I agree on....
