'Suspicious Package' Closes Roland Avenue

Stores and banks along the street were evacuated.

Police closed Roland Avenue north of the 5100 block because of a suspicious package on Friday evening.

Police closed the road to traffic, evacuated near by stores and locked down while they investiaged the package. A book fair was scheduled for the evening at the school and parents were unable to pick up their children at the after school program.

There's no official word on what the suspicious package was, or where exactly it was located. Calls to Baltimore police were not answered and officers at the scene declined to comment.

The area was declared all clear and residents, parents and customers were allowed back into the area at about 6 p.m.
