Two Charged in Armed Carjacking in Rockville

Police say the suspects were foiled by an inability to drive 'stick.'

Two men have been arrested in connection with a Sunday night armed carjacking in Rockville's College Gardens neighborhood.

Jose Maria Deduque, 20, of the 8500 block of Victory Lane in Potomac, and Kwajo Oteng-Agipong, 21, of Washington, DC, have been charged with armed carjacking, conspiracy to commit armed carjacking and motor vehicle theft after police say they threatened a food delivery worker and attempted to steal his car.

A food delivery driver and his passenger were making a delivery stop in the 1600 block of Yale Place in Rockville around 8:50 p.m. Sunday, according to a Montgomery County police report

As the driver returned to his vehicle, two suspects demanded the car at gunpoint, police said.

One of the victims fled as the suspects entered the vehicle, according to police. The suspects were unable to operate the manual transmission car and then fled on foot, police said.

When police and K-9 units arrived, they located the suspects, along with a discarded backpack and a black semi-automatic replica BB gun they said belongs to one of the suspects.

Deduque and Oteng-Agipong are being held on bond and awaiting trial, according to police.

Sounds like we need a program to teach young immigrants how to drive clutches...

And I guess you're an immigrant too since your name sounds foreign?

And to think Jose Deduque doesn't really need to steal anything. This guy is rich!!! Father works at the World Bank, Uncle an anchor/newscaster at BBC Asia, family in his native country is filthy rich!!! I wonder what happened to this young man, he had so much potential when he was young
