Afro-American Newspaper Endorses Ramos

Odette Ramos would be the first Hispanic elected to the Baltimore City Council.

Odette Ramos, a Democrat running for Baltimore City Council in District 12, has received the endorsement of the Afro-American newspaper.

Ramos, who is of Puerto Rican descent, would be the first Hispanic elected to the Baltimore City Council.

She is facing several African-American candidates including Councilman Carl Stokes, who was appointed to the seat, and DeVon Brown, a 21-year-old featured in the Boys of Baraka documentary who has been endorsed by Gov. Martin O’Malley.

“We have watched her grow as a leader in the community for several years. She has experience as a business owner, a volunteer and has helped establish two nonprofit organizations,” the newspaper wrote.
