Baltimore City Council Considers Legislation Adding Turnbull House to Landmark List

The Baltimore City Council will meet for the first time in more than a month at 5 p.m. Monday.

Here's a look at some of the items on the agenda:

• Legislation supported by the Commission for Historical and Architectural Preservation to add the Grace Turnbull House, in Guilford, is scheduled to be introduced. 
• The council’s agenda also includes a bill creating more stringent ethics guidelines for members and staff of Board of Trustees for the Employees’ Retirement System, and the Board of Trustees for the Elected Officials’ Retirement System, and the Board of Trustees for the Fire and Police Employees’ Retirement System.
• Councilwoman Belinda K. Conaway and Councilman Warren Branch have introduced legislation that would cause the beverage container tax to sunset more quickly.
• Councilwoman Mary Pat Clarke will introduce a resolution calling for a hearing on why there was an increase in funding for police involved litigation in the fiscal year 2012 budget.
• A bill to create a referendum on whether to amend the city charter to lower the age requirement to serve on the Baltimore City Council is scheduled for final approval by the council.
