Baltimore Delegates Oppose Expanded Gambling, For Now

Members of the House of Delegates want planning funds for an expanded convention center restored to the capital budget.

Baltimore delegates are vowing not to support a Senate plan to expand gambling, unless funds for planning an expansion of the convention center and new arena are restored to the capital budget.

Del. Curt Anderson, who represents North Baltimore and is the delegation chairman for the House of Delegates, said 18 city delegates would not vote for the plan, according to the Maryland Daily Record.

The Senate bill would put this issue of allowing table games, and adding an extra slots casino in Prince George’s County to the voters as a referendum.
