Baltimore Mayor Makes Football Bet, Again

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake bet Boston Mayor Thomas Menino a platter of crab cakes that the Ravens will win Sunday's AFC Championship.

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake is back to making football bets.

Rawlings-Blake bet Boston Mayor Thomas Menino a platter of broiled crab cakes from J.W. Faidley Seafood that the Ravens will beat the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game on Sunday.

If the Ravens pull out the win, Menino will owe Rawlings-Blake a gourmet lobster dinner at a Boston restaurant.

“This week, in addition to showcasing the two best football teams in the NFL, Mayor Menino and I are proud to bring attention to some of greatest food in the country with this seafood smackdown—and I look forward to seeing it delivered to Baltimore City Hall next week,” Rawlings-Blake said in a news release.

Of course Ravens fans, not to mention Rawlings-Blake herself, hope the mayor’s wager goes better than the one she made last year with Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl (see video above).

As if this inter-city gamesmanship isn’t enough, Patch will be facilitating a fan chat this weekend through our Baltimore metro area sites as well as Patch sites in New England.
