Baltimore Placing Warning Signs on Public Trash Cans

Dumping household trash in public trashcans could result in a $500 fine.

The Department of Public Works will be placing signs on pedestrian trash cans reminding residents that the cans are for litter, not household or business waste.

The department will be placing signs on trash cans in major corridors, and on cans that are being misused, warning that dumping prohibited trash could result in a $500 fine, according to a news release.

The signs are part of Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake’s emphasis on cleaning up Baltimore.
