Bill Bans Smoking at Baltimore County Playgrounds

The proposed legislation would prohibit smoking at outdoor Department of Recreation and Parks facilities.

A proposed bill bans smoking at Baltimore County owned playgrounds and tot lots.

The bill, which is sponsored by Councilman David Marks, Councilman Tom Quirk and Councilwoman Vicki Almond, would also ban smoking at dog parks and games at athletic events organized by the Department of Recreation and Parks or local recreation council.

The legislation also prohibits smoking within 20 feet of a recreation and parks building.

The council is scheduled to discuss the bill at its Feb. 11 work session could be voted on during the legislative body’s Feb. 18 meeting.
