City Announces Partnership for Roland Park Road Improvements

The Board of Estimates approved a memorandum of understanding that Bryn Mawr and Gilman School will provide maintenance for road improvements.

UPDATE (11:58 a.m.)—Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake announced a partnership between the city and two private schools for maintenance of scheduled road improvements in Roland Park.

The Board of Estimates approved a memorandum of understanding on Wednesday with and to maintain the public right-of-way for streetscape improvements near the two schools, and each school committed $350,000 for the renovations, according to a news release.

The $3.5 million project includes:

  • Resurfacing Roland Avenue from Northern Parkway to Cold Spring Lane
  • A new traffic signal on Northern Parkway between Roland Avenue and N. Charles Street
  • Modifying the median between on Roland Avenue in front of the Gilman School
  • Traffic calming and enhancements along Roland Avenue, W. Cold Spring Lane and Wyndhurst Avenue

The goal of the project is to help traffic congestion along Roland Avenue exacerbated by four area schools: Gilman, Bryn Mawr, and
