City Will Hold Hazmat Drop-Off Despite Forecast

Residents will be able to drop off such items as pesticides and oil-based paints.

The Baltimore Department of Public Works hazardous material drop-off at Baltimore Polytechnic High School will be held as scheduled on Saturday.

The department issued a press release Friday announcing the forecasted arrival of Hurricane Irene will not disrupt the disposal event.

The drop-off will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the school’s parking lot at Falls Road and Cold Spring Lane.

Residents will be able to dispose of items, such as oil-based paints, pesticides and drain cleaners.

The city will not be collecting acids, asbestos, fire extinguishers or ammunition.

Residents must have proof they live in the city, such as a driver’s license, telephone or tax bill.
