Conaway Bids Farewell to the Baltimore City Council

Councilwoman Belinda Conaway, who represented parts of the Remington, Hampden and Medfield neighborhoods participated in her last council meeting Monday night.

Councilwoman Belinda Conaway, D-District 7, said goodbye to the Baltimore City Council on Monday night.

Conaway lost the Democratic primary toin September and lost as a write-in candidate in the general election in November.

She is the member of a political family that includes her father Clerk of the Circuit Court Frank Conaway Sr., also a perennial mayoral candidate, her brother Del. Frank Conaway Jr., D-District 40, and her stepmother Register of Wills Mary Conaway.

Conaway’s re-election bid was marred by controversy after local blogger Adam Meister he said proved she actually lived in Randallstown in Baltimore County. Conaway denied the reports and insisted her family lives at the home in Baltimore that is shared with her family and listed on campaign finance reports. She eventually sued Meister for $21 million but the

Conaway was viewed as often being an adversary of Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, and on high profile issues such as the 2-cent bottle tax.
