District 4 Candidates Report Similar Fundraising Hauls

Councilman Bill Henry and challenger Scherod Barnes reported raising similar funds, but Barnes has a large advantage in cash available.

The race for the Democratic nomination for the Baltimore City Council seat in District 4 should be a tight race, if campaign finances are any indicator.

Councilman Bill Henry and challenger Scherod Barnes reported raising similar totals at last week's finance report deadline. But Barnes has a significant advantage in the amount of cash on hand. He reported a $14,760 balance in his campaign account, while Henry reported just $4,197.

In 2007, Henry won the nine-way primary with 2,837 votes. Barnes finished second in that race with 1,278 votes.
