Governor to Announce $1.5B MARC, Red Line Investment

A news conference is set for Wednesday at the west Baltimore MARC station.

Gov. Martin O’Malley is set to announce new investments in various area transportation projects, such as the Red Line and MARC weekend service.

According to The Baltimore Sun, the investment will be about $1.5 billion and will be funded with revenue from the gas tax increase passed earlier this year.

The announcement of the investments will be made at 2 p.m., Wednesday at the west Baltimore MARC Station, 201 N. Smallwood St.

The state hopes the projects will "create jobs, reduce congestion and revitalize communities" and will benefit Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford and Howard counties, according to a news release.  

Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown and Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake will join O'Malley for the announcement.
