Guilford Reservoir Filling Back Up

The reservoir has been drained since March.

The Guilford Reservoir should be filled back up by Friday, according to Baltimore City Department of Public Works spokesman Kurt Kocher.

The department drained the reservoir in March so crews could search for places where covered tanks could ultimately be buried in the basin. The city intends to replace the reservoir with earth-covered tanks to comply with EPA requirements.

The city does not intend to drain the reservoir again before beginning to phase it out of service in late 2013 or early 2014, Kocher wrote in an e-mail.
