Illegal Dumping Bill Scheduled for Final Approval

The Baltimore City Council will meet for the last time this month at 5 p.m. on Monday at City Hall.

The Baltimore City Council will meet at 5 p.m. on Monday at City Hall. Here are some issues the council will be considering.

  • The Baltimore City Council will consider approving Council President Bernard C. “Jack” Young’s bill that increases penalties for illegal dumping.
  • The council will also consider legislation from Councilman Robert Curran to reconstitute the city’s laws governing animal control and protection.
  • Councilwoman Mary Pat Clarke’s legislation that defines advertising circulars placed on unattended property as being placed without permission and subject to increased fines for repeated violations will go before the council.
  • Councilwoman Belinda K. Conway will introduce legislation to establish an anti-gang commission to prepare a five-year strategic plan for dealing with gangs.
  • Clarke and Councilman Bill Henry are sponsoring a resolution opposing the proposal to close eight post offices in Baltimore.
  • Conaway has also introduced legislation prohibiting the use of speed cameras in school or construction zones unless certain language is clarified.
