Environment Maryland Pushes for 60 Miles Per Gallon

Environmental group releases plan calling for more stringent fuel requirements in Govans.

Advocacy group Environment Maryland released a report on Tuesday calling for the United States to adopt a fuel standard of 60 miles per gallon for all cars and trucks by 2025.

According to information from Environment Maryland, if cars were currently required to meet the 60 miles per gallon threshold, it would save Americans $67 billion at the gas pump, and conserve 17 billion gallons of gas this summer.

The group used the corner of York Road and Bellona Avenue, which is surrounded by gas stations, as a backdrop to announce the report's release.
