Mayor Urges Residents to Stay Home

Because of the approach of "unpredictable" Hurricane Sandy mayor want residents to stay off the roads.

During a press conference broadcast from the city’s Emergency Management Center Monday, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake urged city residents to stay home during Hurricane Sandy.

"Hunker down and stay at home," Rawlings-Blake said.

She also said that if wind conditions necessitate the city will put in place travel restrictions.

The mayor also said that all nine police districts, and firehouses are fully staffed. Maryland National Guard Humvees have been strategically placed with police so they can respond to any emergency during the storm.

"We are ready and able to respond to any incident," Rawlings-Blake said.
