Mayor Wants a Purple City

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake is encouraging residents and businesses to show their support for the Baltimore Ravens.

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake wants residents and businesses to show their support for the Ravens as the city prepares for team’s home playoff game on Jan. 15 by “bathing the city in purple light.”

The Department of General Services began putting purple lighting fixtures on city buildings, the city’s homepage is now purple, and the Ravens’ logo was emblazoned on the war memorial downtown, according to a news release announcing the effort.

“Hotels, bars, and restaurants in the City will benefit from the thousands of fans coming out to watch the game together,” Rawlings-Blake said in the news release.  “I look forward to joining thousands of fellow Ravens fans as we light this great city purple. Go Ravens!"
