Mitchell Endorses Rawlings-Blake

Del. Keiffer J. Mitchell Jr. ran for mayor in 2007, but lost to former Mayor Sheila Dixon.

Del. Keiffer J. Mitchell Jr., D-District 44, has endorsed the election bid of Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, his former Baltimore City Council colleague.

Mitchell’s endorsement was announced Monday, the same afternoon that state Sen. Catherine Pugh, D-District 40, is scheduled to officially announce her campaign for mayor.

Mitchell ran for mayor in 2007, but was defeated in the Democratic primary by former Mayor Sheila Dixon.

In a statement released by Rawlings-Blake’s campaign, Mitchell called the mayor “tough” and “decisive.” 

Rawlings-Blake, Mitchell and Pugh all served on the City Council together when Gov. Martin O’Malley was mayor.
