'Styrofoam' Recycling Comes to North Baltimore

Residents will be able to recycle polystyrene products at the sanitation yard in Remington.

Baltimore residents will be able to recycle polystyrene foam—commonly referred to as “Styrofoam”—at the Northwest Sanitation Yard in Remington next month.

Baltimore is partnering with Dart Container Corporation, a manufacturer of polystyrene food service products, to collect the materials, according to a news release announcing the recycling.

Residents will be able to drop off polystyrene, or foam No. 6, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, starting on Nov. 4.

The Department of Public Works also announced it will be holding a hazardous waste drop-off day at the recently opened on Nov. 4.

Residents will be able to drop off materials such as oil-based paints, pesticides and drain cleaners.
