The President’s Cup Returns

Private and public schools from Baltimore City will compete against each other in the second year of the baseball tournament.

The President’s Cup, a baseball tournament created by City Council President Bernard C. “Jack” Young, will be held for the second consecutive year.

This year 16 private and public school teams will face each other at fields across the city. The championship game will again be played at Oriole Park at Camden Yards at 1 p.m. on April 21.

Four teams from North Baltimore will be participating:

The games will be played throughout April. The games in North Baltimore will be played at Gilman, Boys’ Latin, Medfield Heights and Johns Hopkins University.

Young was joined by former Orioles' catcher Chris Hoiles and Sharon Robinson, the daughter of Hall of Famer Jackie Robinson, to announce the donation of $83,000 from Growing the Game to provide safe and well maintained ball fields in Baltimore.

The unofficial start of the tournament is this weekend when participating teams, Brickman’s Sports Turf and members of the Orioles’ grounds crew will renovate baseball fields at Forest Park and Joseph Lee Park.
