Tuesday Marks Third Anniversary of Murder of Councilman Harris

Councilman Kenneth Harris was fatally shot during a robbery at a shopping center in northeast Baltimore.

Tuesday marks the three-year anniversary of Councilman Kenneth Harris’ murder at a shopping center in northeast Baltimore.

Two men, Charles McGaney and Jerome Williams, were found guilty of the crime last October. Both were sentenced to life plus 30 years in prison.

Harris was elected to the old multimember Council District 3 in 1999, and was elected to the single member Council District 4 in 2003 before a failed bid for City Council President in 2007.

Currently, the mid-Govans community group is trying to to build a memorial to the former councilman.
