Water Meter Bill Set for Final Approval

A look on what's on tap for this evening's council meeting.

A bill sponsored by Mary Pat Clarke, D-District 14, requiring residential water meters be physically read before a water bill is sent to a customer goes before the Baltimore City Council this evening for final approval.

Other notable items on the council’s agenda:

  • Councilman William Cole, D-District 11, is sponsoring a bill prohibiting entertainment, or commercial noise that could be heard in a home, hotel or other living quarters from 50 feet away.
  • A bill sponsored by Helen Holton, D-District 8, calls for an informational hearing on the anticipated impact of the state’s Prescription Drug Monitoring Program on prescription drug abuse in the city.
  • A bill to amend the city’s rules for eviction notification would remove a requirement that a landlord send a certified letter to a tenant as part of the eviction process goes before the council for second reader.
  • The Urban Renewal Plan for the York-Woodbourne business area is also going to second reader before the council. This renews the city’s ability to acquire private property through condemnation.
