WJZ-TV: Mikulski Endorses Rawlings-Blake
The mayor receives backing from another Democratic Party heavyweight.
Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake has added the backing of another big name to her list of endorsements, according to WJZ-TV.
At a campaign event in Canton on Monday, Sen. Barbara Mikulski, D-Maryland, announced her support of Rawlings-Blake, who is seeking election in the fall.
This endorsement comes on the heels of Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-District 7, announcing his support of the mayor last week.

Rawlings-Blake, after serving as City Council president since November 2007, ascended to the position of mayor in February 2010 after former Mayor Sheila Dixon resigned as part of a plea deal. The mayor hopes to be elected in her own right in November.
So far, Otis Rolley, Jody Landers and Frank Conaway Sr. are planning to challenge Rawlings-Blake in September's Democratic primary, which typically determines the general election winner in the predominantly Democratic city.
