You Tell Us: Does Race Impact Which Post Offices Are Closed?

Councilwoman Mary Pat Clarke, D-District 14, implied Tuesday that race has played a role in which post offices are being closed.

A press release from Councilwoman Mary Pat Clarke's office decrying the closing of Baltimore post offices, including the Waverly office, said the closings show a bias toward “urban, low-income and African American population.”

Using 2010 Census data, Clarke pointed out on Tuesday that the post offices in Baltimore that are being closed are in areas with a high percentage of African-Americans.
