Readers' Choice Winner: Pete's Grille

The neighborhood diner won with 59 percent of the votes in the Mother's Day brunch spot competition.

David Stahl, owner of Pete’s Grille, said he wasn’t shocked Patch readers chose his establishment as the best place in North Baltimore for Mother’s Day brunch.

Although the restaurant, located at 3130 Greenmount Ave., is short on frilly décor and white tablecloths, Stahl said North Baltimore residents know they're getting quality when they eat at Pete’s.

"It’s a neighborhood place. And I think the things people identify, as our strengths are we’re very reasonably priced. The food is all fresh and carefully prepared. We use only the best ingredients…and the service is good," Stahl said.

And with 59 percent of the vote in the poll, Pete’s—a neighborhood fixture for about 50 years—was the clear winner for Readers' Choice Best Mother’s Day Brunch competition.

Pete’s will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, and the diner will have its usual weekend specials of homemade sausage gravy and biscuits, as well as homemade cream chipped beef. But, as a Mother’s Day special, the restaurant will be serving strawberry pancakes.
