Get Smart at the Baltimore Free School

Free classes, seminars and workshops offered at Mt. Vernon bookstore/coffeehouse.

Your school days may be long past (though loan payments may still, unfortunately, occur every month), but that doesn't mean getting your “learn on” has to be at an end. It's probably no surprise to hear that spending your evenings watching Sex and the City reruns won't help get you to whereever you're going in life. Picking up a class in a foreign language, on the other hand, at the very least couldn't hurt.

If you count yourself among the educationally inclined but not among those inclined to shell out extra cash for the education, the Baltimore Free School might have just what you're looking for.

Located at 1323 N. Calvert. St., the Baltimore Free School is a grassroots educational organization run and organized by volunteers in conjuction with Red Emma's Bookstore and Coffee House. All classes, as the name suggests, are free, and the BFS is supported entirely by donations. Classes run pretty much every night of the week and range widely in subject matters.
