Guitar Teachers Reach Out To City Students

Face to Face Guitar program helps kids at Baltimore public schools learn the instrument.

Face to Face Guitar, an interactive website that connects guitar students and teachers with lessons, tools and videos, is now teaching Baltimore Public School students to play the instrument via their outreach program.

"We go to schools that may not have the financial ability and coordination to bring guitar into the classroom. And we show up and we make the instruments possible and we teach classes anywhere from five to 10 kids per class,” said Christopher Dunn, president of Face to Face Guitar.

During the after school outreach program, teachers from Face to Face Guitar teach kids the basics of guitar, such as fretboard knowledge, basic note reading and music vocabulary.

Face to Face Guitar will also be hosting its first concert on May 1, at 8 p.m., when Dimitris Kotronakis will perform at An die Musik Live!, 409 N. Charles Street.

During the intermission of the concert, four students from the Face to Face Outreach Program will recieve their own personal guitars that were made possible via a charitable donation.
