Gunpowder Elementary Principal Left For 'Personal Reasons'

The position replace Christine Smith at the Perry Hall elementary school remains open, a school official confirmed.

Christine Smith, principal of Gunpowder Elementary in Perry Hall, has left her position for "personal reasons," said Mychael Dickerson, a Baltimore County schools spokesman.

Dickerson confirmed that Anissa Brown is serving as the school's interim principal. The system is currently seeking a new principal and the position remains open, he said.

He declined to comment further on Smith's departure.

The elementary school on Holiday Manor Road first opened in 1970.

Hi Tim, I made several calls around for details, but nothing substantial could be confirmed. I decided not to post the article until I could get official confirmation on whether her departure was voluntary. The system claims it was voluntary. The school itself chose not to comment. I'll be sure to keep the community updated on the new principal.

Maybe they were kind enough to offer her a "resignation before termination", or at least the decency to try and "save face"? I don't know. I do not have any connections to the school, only rumors I will not repeat.

Emily, that's all well and good, but it seems to be you've been asleep at the wheel of late. Maybe you're still recovering from your health issues, and that's aokay if so. But really, you missed the window of opportunity on this particular story. You're losing your edge, due to injury, indifference, or whatever. I'm not paid to do this, yet I could have reported this about 10 -12 days ago. You ARE paid to do this. So I'm disappointed. You weren't a couple days late. You were about 10 news cycles late. As if this were 'breaking news'. Do better.
